Bah, in other words it sounds like something you would have to micro in order to get the best efficiency out of it.

I used to run a MM bar on my rit back when factions first came out and had no decent elites but I pretty much refuse to run something like it now (unless someone asks me to) cause heroes are godly with stuff like [death nova].

Just run Discord necros without corpse exploits.
They have high DM so they'll lay the Novas down for you - while you raise hell.

I wouldn't bother with AotL though. The same way that I don't bother with Jagged.
There are too many corpses to go around in PvE and the Animate skills have way to short recharges to waste your elite on something like that.


Slightly more on-topic:
Spirit spamming still sucks. I tried running it on my guy today again - and it's seriously not comparable to being able to spike down the target you want in secs.
